The sole edge iron is a new tool in the arsenal of fine shoecare. Reminiscent of the hot edge irons of traditional shoemakers or cordwainers, this tool helps bring a restorative surface to the edge of a sole. Simply apply repeatedly the edge of a sole. The heat and the curved plane of the tool remove scuffs, and dings, and bring consistency to the sole edge.

+ Specifications

Solid walnut handle. Magnetic inserts for handy attachment to the Paul Brunngard valet case.

+ How to use

Use either side of the tool. Apply light cream, if desired. Repeatedly, and vigorously (if need be) rub the application edge on the sole edge. Paint the sole edge with another product if required.

  • Fit for Purpose

The sole edge iron has an intergrated magnet and fits neatly in the Paul Brunngard social briefcase.

  • Solid Walnut Handle

The Sole Edge Iron is composed of Solid Walnut, which has a beautiful natural wood grain.

Bought after reading and watching various reviews, including the Shoe Snob and also Dress Well on YouTube. It sits alongside the more traditional edging and glazing irons that I have in my shoe care drawer. The Sole Edge Iron arrived very quickly from Artertons, and is beautifully packaged. The Iron itself is nicely made, though somewhat annoyingly the countersunk hole that is designed to hold the magnet has been drilled at an angle, meaning that the magnet does not sit evenly. This may well vary from piece to piece, but a little more quality control would be beneficial. The iron works well in practice, but does need some pressure and brisk rubbing to build up sufficient heat to effectively work the leather edges.

The sole edge iron is clear evidence that Mr. Anders Sundström had a wholistic vision when creating the Paul Brunngård luxury shoecare line. This tool is as practical as it is presentable and should elevate professionals and hobbyists alike in their shoecare routine!

Take your shoe care to the next level. An often overlooked part of caring for fine footwear is the sole. And specifically the edges of the sole. This is a part of the shoe that is subject to considerable wear in the course of everyday use. And not well served by the conventional regime of polishes and waxes, or by brushes and buffing cloths. Over time, the edges of the sole may become discoloured and scuffed. That's where the Sole Edge Iron comes in. ... More
