Produced only in special production runs, they combine an ultra-high 220-needle construction with exceptionally fine 110/2 extra-long-staple mercerised cotton — creating a sock of remarkable fineness, smoothness and refinement.

ELS cotton has longer fibres require fewer joins/overlaps within the spun yarn, so the yarn can be smoother, stronger and less hairy, with less tendency to pill.

The toe is hand linked, so rather than having a conventional raised seam running across the toes, the joint is completely flush for superior comfort.

Traditional Japanese Dyes
The Japanese dyeing process gives the yarn a very clean, saturated colour, and mercerising the cotton helps give the finished sock that subtle lustre as well as improving the way the fibre takes dye. Kachiiro is a dark indigo, almost black, and Kokutan is an ebony brown.
